ACOS Alliance and World Press Photo invite applications for the second edition of our Photo Editor Safety Cohort taking place weekly in October.

Whether commissioning news or features, photo editors make decisions that affect the safety of the photographers and visual journalists they work with yet are often overlooked when it comes to safety training.

Running over four weeks, this free cohort program brings together up to 15 photo editors from around the world for practical learning, peer exchange, and one-to-one coaching.

The training will be led by former Reuters Head of Safety Michael Christie and covers digital, legal, physical, and psychological safety, with a focus on safe commissioning, self care, and supporting the safety of freelance photographers.

Program: October 1 - 29, 2026 Online (Attendance at weekly Zoom webinars conducted in English plus several hours of self-paced online learning is required.)

Applications close Friday, September 4 2026.

The program is open and free to photo editors worldwide. Those working in volatile or under-represented regions, and for under-resourced media, are especially encouraged to apply.
