The Fundamentals of Safe Commissioning

Developer / CMS Specialist

with English + Spanish languages

 

The Fundamentals of Safe Commissioning is the first online training course launched on the Editor Safety Hub, a new platform from the ACOS Alliance and WAN-IFRA dedicated to the safety training needs of news editors and managers. The course was launched in April and we are now looking to expand its languages - the first one is Spanish. 

The goal of this role is to make The Fundamentals of Safe Commissioning multilingual and easily accessible to Spanish speaking audiences. The developer/ CMS specialist will work to ensure smooth integration and translations using the Weglot plugin within the Hub's Learnworlds platform. 

This is a freelance position starting ASAP with a contract period to be agreed.

 

Location: remote

Rate/fee: to be agreed, dependant on experience and location 


 

Job description / Scope of work:

 

  • Working with the Program Manager, create and implement a workplan that meets the launch deadline of the spanish language course.

  • Create, integrate and implement a URL structure for the course within Learnworlds. 

  • Duplicate the existing course/course pages and translate into Spanish using WeGlot translation software plugin 

  • Check through translated course pages to ensure correct design and fix any/all issues, including images, videos, links, quizzes etc and ensure a smooth translation workflow

  • Liaise with translator to check and correct translation of all course texts 

  • Upload translated videos and PDFs and ensure all links are correct and working

  • Work with the ACOS Program Manager to create a glossary and style guide

  • Create and test all sign up and notification emails 

  • Ensure search engine compliance and optimisation 

  • Carry out a thorough course testing to ensure it is fit for purpose 

  • Make course live 

  • Liaise with LearnWorlds and Weglot to troubleshoot as needed, carrying out any fixes and issues 

  • Maintain and share a detailed documentation of the integration process, configurations and any changes made including user guides.

  • Provide ACOS Alliance and relevant partners with regular progress updates, liaising with ACOS Program Manager regarding content and other needs in a timely and efficient way


 

Skills and Experience Requirements:

 

  • Proven experience working on CMS platform integration 

  • Previous experience in multilingual website environment or localisation projects

  • Previous experience working with Weglot and Learnworlds (desirable, not essential)

  • Strong knowledge of front-end development in a test-driven environment and website development or a similar role.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish (desirable)

  • Knowledge of coding languages eg Java, JavaScript, C++, HTML (bonus)

  • Attention to detail and troubleshooting skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
