The Columbia Graduate School of Journalism
The Columbia Graduate School of Journalism organizes annual workshops and provides safety tips for correspondents and especially female correspondents.
- The Columbia Graduate School of Journalism runs a four-day safety workshop twice a year (April and October) that covers risk assessment, digital security, rape prevention, trauma self care, contingency planning and emergency first aid.
- A separate safety tip sheet for female correspondents http://www.cjr.org/campaign_desk/safety_tips_for_female_corresp.php
- This intensive program is aimed at preparing journalists, especially independent freelancers, to think critically about how to work effectively and safely in volatile situations such as war/conflict or disaster zones, with emphasis on prevention of harm.
