Safety Clinics for independent journalists will be on offer at this year's International Journalism Festival in Perugia, Italy on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th April 2022.

Organised by ACOS Alliance signatory organisations and partners, the clinics are a unique opportunity for independent journalists, photographers and filmmakers at all stages of their career to receive FREE one-to-one safety advice from industry-leading experts.

The 50 minute clinics can cover:

  • physical safety and risk assessment

  • digital security and surveillance

  • online harassment

  • legal safety and preparedness

  • psychological safety and trauma management

The clinics are confidential and tailored to the individual needs of each participant. They are particularly useful for freelance journalists who are looking for safety guidance on a specific issue, assignment, story or situation.

Up to 30 clinics will be available, so early application is advised. Each participant will be paired with a suitable advisor based on the information provided in their application. The majority of the clinics will be conducted in English, with a limited number available for Spanish and French speaking participants. Date and time slots will be allocated after selection.

Deadline for applications is Monday 14 March.
