2Lives Foundation's mission is to provide both endowed and individual scholarships for journalism and liberal arts students who have the passion and desire to pursue a career in journalism.

Safety Training Bursaries 

The Forum is an educational charity promoting the physical and emotional safety of journalists in Canada and abroad. They also study the effects of newsgathering on subjects and consumers.

The Columbia Graduate School for Journalism organizes annual workshops and provides safety tips for correspondents and especially female correspondents.

The CPJ promotes press freedom worldwide and defendS the right of journalists to report the news safely and without fear of reprisal. As part of its work, CPJ provides life-saving support to journalists and media support staff working around the world through up-to-date safety and security information and rapid response assistance.

The Dart Center trains and encourages working journalists in providing volunteer education and support to colleagues through professional organizations and newsroom mentoring.

The James W. Foley Legacy Foundation was established in 2014, immediately after the public execution of American freelance journalist James W. Foley. Jim was murdered by ISIS in Syria after 20 months of starvation, torture and imprisonment for being an American journalist.

Freedom House provides short term assistance, including emergency funds, to human rights defenders (HRDs), including journalists, who are under threat, attack, detention, prosecution, or otherwise at imminent risk due to their work.

FPU is a Dutch NGO based in Amsterdam. Their mission is to provide reliable, unbiased information to all. They also advocate for media viability and protection for journalists worldwide.

FFR is a representative body for freelancers, by freelancers. As a membership association, FFR is available to international freelance journalists who are exposed to risk and adhere to their code of conduct. Their mission is to support the mental and physical well being of freelancers.

The Ground Truth Project is a nonprofit news organization that empowers journalists and film makers to tell the most important stories of their generation. TGTP offers dozens of reporting fellowships each year focusing on various issues of social justice.
